The Hi Hat is run by a guy who plays drums in several rock and roll bands around town, and he's managed to put together a team of bar staff who excel in customer service.

The first time I walk in a guy was embarrassingly smiling as he asks the lone bartender if she has any jumper cables. She questions everyone to make sure they're served before leaving the bar to help him out.

This is the kind of place you'd normally be annoyed by. The expansive, and rotating, beer selection begs for beer snobs of all orders. The specialty dishes combine ingredients which bring kinds who dissect small plates and above average prices.

Instead you have a staff playing Will Ferrell movies and groups of twenty to thirty somethings mixed with neighborhood people, while great eighties music is being streamed in.

This is a bar that you can come to by yourself, with a buddy or in a group. If the beer selection, food menu, and clean new decor throw you....consider that the owner's current band features a blind guy with a foot fetish, and remember you're still in East Austin.
